Cameron was also at camp this week. Cam is 15 and about 6'3". He knows the dialogue (verbatim!) from a variety of shows, including Yo Gaba Gaba, Bert and Ernie shorts, various movies, and books as well. We often sing or act out particular classic Sesame Street clips (like the one with the pinball machine. Refresh your memory here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgocE-JfWFI).
Cameron LOVES to sing! So when I was on a break on Monday and he happened to be near by with Colin (his HH counselor this week), I asked if he wanted to sing with me. Cameron has an exceptional memory. He will know not only all the words, but the tempo, instrumentation, beat and every exact aspect of the song. I have no idea where he got the idea for this song from, but I was so glad this is what came out of his brain....
"Hey Cameron, let's sing a song. Wuddya think?"
"Yeah" (he whispers this)
"Ok, what shall it be?"
He looks at me, what seems like through me. He's thinking. He starts moving his right hand, as if writing out the lyrics to the song he's decided upon. Then he starts a beat by hitting his hand on his thigh....
And in an impressive falsetto for a 15yr old very tall boy, he starts to sing:
"Poor old Jonny Ray, sounded sad upon the radio, he moved a million hearts in mono.....".
COME ON EILEEN! I LOVE THIS SONG.
What resulted was the Cameron and Christine Show, where we accumulated quite the audience for our camp version of Come On Eileen "by Dexies Midnight Runners, from 80's #1 hits, CD 2". It was my favourite moment of the week. Next to our rendition of On Top of Spaghetti in the canoe with Lorena and Colin.

This picture is of is Colin, Cameron and myself under the main pavilion. He made our names and wanted a picture (in case anyone was wondering who was in the picture). I love it.
Next week I will be working with Wilson. He is non-verbal autistic, which means I'll get to use some sign language. It's going to be a challenging week, though, simply for the reason of his non-verbalness (Katherine and I tag teamed him at one point so he would go to the washroom, and being at the arms end, my hair got in his grip and almost left a very sexy bald spot (not really, haha. i did get to use my nvci training though!). I'm looking forward to Wilson and welcome any challenges :).
